Burned oak
For GD Arredamenti, selecting the best available woods, working with the best artisans and being very keen to details, has always been a strong commitment.
Not just being able to look beyond the trends and beyond the ordinary, but look at what suit our customers best and constantly deliver an extra-ordinary product; this is what “Made in Italy” always meant to us.
Upon these principals, GD Arredamenti is introducing a new finish and texture: the 3-layer burned oak. This new material will join our trademark 3-layer solid wood collections staring in May.
Burned Oak is a beautiful finish obtained through the Shou Sugi Ban process; this antique Japanese technique, originated in Japan in the 18th century, involves charring a wood surface to make it totally waterproof and to render it into a deep charcoal-black color. It creates a finished result that reveal clean and pronounced lines and a natural textural beauty.
Thanks to our experiences, gained since the introduction of our heat-treated ash wood for the Dogi bathroom collection, we can now guarantee the same hygroscopic, waterproof, anti-mould and anti-bacterial material for the home kitchen industry.
GD Arredamenti will be presenting the new 3-layer burned oak finish during the New York Design Week from May 11th to May 23rd; a large kitchen installation will be on display in the GD Arredamenti showroom in Chelsea, New York.
With the introduction of the 3-layer burned oak, GD Arredamenti will also show a set of new finishes and materials for countertops and backsplashes; in partnership with a world leading manufacturer.
